SPF vs. UPF- What is the difference?

Both SPF (Sun Protection Factor) and UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) are standards used to measure sunburn protection. SPF, the standard used to measure the effectiveness of sunscreens, has been around for many years. The UPF system is relatively new and was created specially for sun protective fabrics. At first, American sun protective fabrics were rated using the SPF standard until the FTC finalized the UPF standard we have today. Use of the UPF standard is voluntary so some sun protective fabric manufactures still use the SPF system.

What is Standard 100 OEKO-TEX?

Oeko-Tex® is a worldwide association of independent institutes for product safety and sustainable production in the textile industry. The standard 100 by Oeko-Tex® is used for testing and certification of textile products.

The criteria are often more strict than judicial standards, and change consecutively according to new results within medical science. Everything is tested. Zippers, buttons, sewing threads, labels, hang tags.. the list goes on! Products from Voksi® are now produced and certified according to product class I – articles for babies and toddlers up to the age of three which have stricter requirements.

Materials in this group are additionally tested for color fastness and odors.

SEDEX/SMETA- whenever possible, we use companies audited by Sedex/SMETA to ensure they are working in an ethical manner. Sedex stands for Supplier Ethical Data Exchange- Companies who wish to address ethical and responsible supply chain issues in their supply chain. SMETA stands for Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit and is one of the most widely used ethical audit formats in the world. It combines the best practices in the field of corporate social responsibility.

Hips: measure around the fullest part of the hips (usually about 7-10 “ below the waist)

Did you make all these Designs?

Yes! I have been painting since 1998 or so. Many of these designs are sections of paintings I have created, or designs I have brought to life to capture what a color or sound looks like to me.

What is Synesthesia?

Synesthesia is a perceptual phenomenon in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway. Or put another way, when I hear music--> I see colors!  There are over 80 types of Synesthesia. It is experienced by approximately 4% of the population.

I will be posting more about this on future blogs.

SYNESTHESIA KIDS is a series of children's books I am writing and producing.  It is a wonderful way to explain different types of Synesthesia to children (and their Parents!)   The first one, "Sereya's Superpower" is in production soon. You will find a link in the title bar.

* You can also follow the new @SynesthesiaKids on Instagram and Synesthesia Kids - Children's Book Series  on Facebook.

What is a Metal Print?

Metal Prints are the process of taking a piece of Artwork, and machine-pressing it into a thin, superheated sheet of recycled aluminum. The effect is stunning and it gives my Art a special "Pop".  All Metal Prints are made with a wall mount, so they are ready to hang right out of the box.

I Love this Design, can I order the original piece of Art?

Please contact me, I will do my best to make it happen! (Also check on the Artwork Page to see if I have it available already.)

Can I order Artwork in a different size?

Please contact me directly about this. Sometimes it is possible to crop or otherwise slightly edit the Artwork for a different size print.

What is Milk Fiber?

Milk Fiber was firstly introduced in 1930 in Italy & America to compete the wool. It can be combined with many other things including silk and cashmere, and is part of a new generation of innovative fibers. This Fiber made of milk casein has passed international ecological certification of oeko-tex standard 100. It is made without using formaldehyde, wicks moisture and even has some antibacterial properties.

Today's Milk Fiber is environmentally friendly, superior in strength and has far better qualities than man-made fibers. Some of the benefits of Milk Fiber include: being eco-friendly & a "Green" product. Milk fiber is made from milk casein with the same Ph as human skin, you can feel that it is super soft.
